Tom Borsay, Deep Blue Design's founder and Managing Director, has been a lifelong sailor and waterman. Tom's journey began with a profound connection to the sea, nurtured from an early age leading to countless hours spent navigating and exploring various marine environments, which deeply influenced his professional path and ultimately, to the creation of Deep Blue Design.
With great expertise, broad experience, and passion as a Naval Architect, Design Engineer, Boatbuilder, and Sailor, Tom strives to create elegantly functional, innovative, and sustainable vessels, products and solutions to our clients.
After more than two decades in the marine sector, and working in various areas all over the world, Tom still finds great pleasure being able to have a profession that has always been, and remains a passion.
If not in the Deep Blue Design offices in Hamble, Tom is most likely found racing or delivering boats large and small in various parts of our oceans.
Josh Coles, our- in-house Design Engineer, brings a wealth of experience and energy to the team. His professional journey began working for a renowned life jacket company on the Isle of Wight while completing his final year of university.
After graduating with a BSc in Product design, and eager to continue a path in the marine industry, Josh secured a job with one of the world’s leading superyacht tender companies as a junior Designer. After a little over a year at the company and having earned a promotion to Designer and Build Project Manager, Josh enjoyed the additional responsibilities of running a boat builds for the following years to great success and the exacting standards of the superyacht industry. This all broadening his experience with vessel concept developments, client liaison, production drawing & techniques, and build management to name a few areas.
After 4 years, this led a move to London to join an esteemed Italian yacht design company, broadening his design skills in the superyacht sector and involvement in production drawings for the upcoming E1 race series vessels.
He’s originally from New Quay West Wales (not the English one!) and is fluent in Welsh!
